Videogram 69 / Gili Avissar a Piotr Sikora

Zveme na další ze série komentovaných projekcí Videogram, věnovaných prezentacím současných podob pohyblivého obrazu. Hostem bude tentokrát izraelský umělec Gili Avissar spolu s kurátorem rezidenčního programu Meetfactory, Piotrem Sikorou.

"V šesti letech mě rodiče sebou vzali na módní přehlídku a já byl unešený. Předvádějící modelky byly oslnivé a sebevědomé a kontrastovaly s mým nejistým chováním. Jejich šaty měly v sobě ten fantastický prvek, který je pozvedal nad praktičnost a každodennost života. Byl jsem fascinován tímto průsečíkem reality a fantazie, soukromí a veřejného projevu, identity a masky, a rozhodl jsem se, že se chci stát módním návrhářem. Později, když jsem navštěvoval návrhářskou školu, jsem si uvědomil, že moje motivace i zručnost směřují k větší abstrakci, než je vůle vytvářet masově vyráběný módní artikl. To mě přivedlo do Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, kde jsem se cítil mnohem víc doma. Tam jsem vytvářel objekty, které neměly žádný jiný smysl než vyjádření a sdělení. Nicméně to předvádění se, ta kuriozita a představa těla inherentní světu módy, to zůstává pro mé dílo zásadní." / Gili Avissar

Prezentace se uskuteční v anglickém jazyce na FaVU VUT na Údolní 53 v budově U2, místnosti 216.

We are inviting you on next from Videogram series of commented screenings; the series is devoted to presentation of contemporary forms of moving image. For this time, the guest is an Israel artist, Gili Avissar together with the curator of the Meetfactory residency program, Piotr Sikora.

"At the age of 6 my parents took me to a fashion show, and I was mesmerized. The performative presence of the models was glamourous and confident, and contrasted my own insecure demeanor. The clothes had a fantastic element to them that transcended practicality and everyday life. I was fascinated by the intersection between reality and fantasy, private and public, identity and masquerade, and I decided that I wanted to become a fashion designer. Later on, when I attended fashion school, I realized that my motivation and craft are more abstract than the will to create a mass produced clothing item. This led me to the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, where I felt much more at home. There, I created objects that had no purpose other than expression and communication. Nevertheless, the performativity, the queerness, and the body image that are inherent to fashion, remain crucial to my work." / Gili Avissar
